Meet Dr. Joel Khoo

Dr. Joel Khoo received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the National University of Singapore. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Prosthodontics from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Khoo chose the field of dentistry because it is a branch of medicine that combines surgery, artistry and patient care that he finds both challenging and fulfilling. His additional prosthodontics specialty training equipped him with the knowledge and skills to confidently restore beautiful smiles to patients who have debilitating dental health.

“I love the challenge of allaying my patients’ dental fears and find it most rewarding when I see their fears replaced with a calm confidence. I get great joy and a sense of honor when patients trust me with their oral health needs and it motivates me to give my best. As a prosthodontist, giving patients back their smiles that they never dreamed possible makes all the work and effort worthwhile. I hope to bring a sense of excitement and enthusiasm about dentistry and oral health to our patients and to our community when they get to know us and experience our service.”

Dr. Khoo lives in Corpus Christi with his wife and two children. He loves to spend time with his family doing things together. He also enjoys gardening, cycling, and being outdoors.

Meet Dr. Tina Huynh

I'm Dr. Tina Huynh, and I'm excited to be joining Tide Dental & Orthodontics as a General Dentist. I'm passionate about providing patient-centered care and helping you achieve a healthy, confident smile. I know visiting the dentist can sometimes be nerve-wracking, so l strive to create a comfortable, welcoming environment where you feel heard and cared for.

I grew up right here in Corpus Christi, TX-I went to elementary, middle, and high school here! I then went on to Texas A&M University in College Station for my undergraduate studies (Gig 'em Aggies!) and earned my master's at the University of Texas at San Antonio. I completed my Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in Utah.

During my time there, I completed an externship with Community Health Centers of Utah, where I provided dental care to underserved communities.

Outside of the office, I enjoy exploring new restaurants and trying out recipes with my fiancé, doing my best to keep my plants alive, and spending time with our dogs, Finn & Church.

I'm committed to staying current with the latest dental techniques and technology and believe in building lasting relationships through trust, compassion, and personalized care.

I look forward to being part of your smile journey at Tide Dental & Orthodontics starting in June 2025. If you see me around the office, feel free to say hello!

Can You Explain What Implant-Supported Dentures Are?

Implant-supported appliances use multiple implant posts to create a durable, long-lasting smile. These posts fuse with your jaw to provide a secure foundation. Aesthetic denture appliances are then attached to the implants for a natural appearance and functionality. Same-day options are offered for added convenience, allowing you to transition from extractions to new teeth in just one visit!

What Advantages Do Implant-Supported Dentures Offer?

Implant-Supported Dentures offer an affordable solution for replacing missing teeth and can also repair loose dentures that affect speech, eating, and confidence. These dentures provide a more youthful appearance, support facial structure, prevent bone loss, and feel like natural teeth. They eliminate slippage and gum irritation, allowing for easy cleaning with regular brushing and flossing without the need for messy creams or adhesives.

Ideal Candidate for Implant-Supported Dentures?

Patients who have previously worn dentures and are in good health are ideal candidates for Implant-Supported Dentures. Many patients who were previously told they couldn't have traditional dental implants due to bone loss are thrilled to learn that they are perfect candidates for Implant-Supported Dentures, as they do not require bone grafts or other bone enhancement procedures.

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer a strong base for new teeth that mimic the look, feel, and function of real teeth. They can help you regain the ability to eat, speak, and smile with ease, giving you the confidence to fully enjoy life. Implants are a long-lasting solution that do not decay and do not harm your other teeth.
